can i go from iphone to tilt?

i have a iphone and i absolutely hate it, it has given me to many problems. if i buy a tilt can i jus switch sim cards without a new contract or renewing a contract. will i have any extra tings on my plan that will be useless to the tilt. btw i have the original iphone not the 3g
