what the heck is an extended absence greeting?! at&t cell?

i have at&t, and my voicemail has not been working. no one can leave me voicemails, and when i dial 1 to change it, it says 'you have an extended absence greeting' idk wtf that is but im guessing it has something to do with the problem. i change my greeting each time but it never works. how can i fix this?! thanks!

im guessing its when you go on a vacation and your gone for an extended time and you leave a greeting for people to hear
