cheek greet/ goodbye)? I am an idiot in this area of my life and I usually just shake hands. I feel very awkward giving hugs or anything like that, kiss on cheek. I once tried when I was drunk and was off balance and I like fell into her. She laughed, and I walked out all red in the face. Any advice on how to learn these things? I am in college.

I grew up in Belgium and it's customary for men to kiss women and for women to kiss women and for children to kiss women 3x on the cheek (watch tennis if Belgians play). Correct me if i am wrong, but i think in France they do the same but only kiss twice. In the USA once? In Italy even men kiss men....
In Belgium men just shake hands - lots of time.
Now that i am in the USA i don't even shake hands with women any more but women i do know for a long time i may kiss once regardless of their age. Men i shake hands if i trust them.
If i kiss a female friend for the first time at goodbyes i may say : "Let me give u a kiss".
When i dated young women i would also ask: "Can i kiss u?"
Call me old fashioned...

different people have different expectations. if a girl wants to do a friendly hug thing i let them initiate it and i try not to hug too hard or too long. a quick little and pretend like thats not the most human contact i've had in years. for the most part too i'd say girls i know well will do this anyway and if you don't know them well then don't do it. the best way to get a girls attention is to ignore them anyway. enjoy yourself, have fun but don't act like you want anything.
