Thread: How do you put a password on a wireless internet router?

Be as basic as possible.

Note: I tried putting 192.168.1.1 in the browser but an error comes up saying "The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply."
could it be possible that my neighbor set up a password? if so, how would i reset it, help please...

p.s. my computer is wired to the router, only my nintendo wii is wireless.

You don't say what type of router you have. Check the box and inserts to see if they have a 1-800 number that you can call and they will talk you through it.

try 192.168.0.1? make sure you encrypt as well WPA is lastest standard with 128 bit encryption in lieu of 64 bit, you can download firmware upgrade from router manufacturer for free, or at least I could from D-Link, after asking via email, I thought I was up for a new router.
