Can I have a wifi connection and a separate internet connection for my desktop?

I have bought a laptop and a router. But my family also has an old computer, which is currently connected to the internet. Can I have 2 separate connections, one for the desktop(which I dont think has wireless capabilities), and one for the router, which serves the laptop? I have more than I internet port in my home.

What do you mean by an "internet port?" Do you mean a broadband connection? You can have two connections to the internet if you wish.
