i don't work but i go to school, i see teachers doing it to each other all the time. i think they are not setting a good example because they encourage bullying among students.

Unpretty gave the perfect answer. I did the same, often went as far as looking as stupid as i can and then carried on with my work, don't know why i did it but it seemed to work for me.

Unfortunately, yes. I find it very immature.

I take the higher road when one of the guys (the women don't pick at each other...the men pick on the women) starts the immature behavior towards me, I simply stare dully at them until they realize I'm not laughing. As soon as they make eye contact, I roll my eyes to show them that I find the behavior pathetic, then I turn around and continue my conversation with the mature person I'd been talking to.

Yes, it seems arrogant and haughty, but I just don't see the point in getting emotional or freaking out over what they think of me.

I had to laugh when I read this. I am in this situation. I am the joke among four other women I work with. I am not sure why but I am. Adults are way worse than children. Yeah making fun of people in the workplace is a way of life. I just do my job and do it well. They cant say anything about the work performance if its done correct. I say laugh when you get your paycheck.
