3 girls,(short version) they all booked a hotel at £30 paying £10 each they went to their room an the owner realised it was only meant to be £25 so he took the extra £5 to them, they took £1 each an left him with £2 to his self which makes up the £30, so this means the girls all really paid £9 each for their room? ok so 9 x 3 = 27? the man kept 2 that makes 29 where is the extra £1?????????
there is an answer an the person who gets it will get 10 points

The math is wrong. They paid 27, that includes the tip. They gained back 3, so 30 minus 3 is 27.

The facts in this riddle are clear: There is an initial $30 charge. It should have been $25, so $5 must be returned and accounted for. $3 is given to the 3 friends, $2 is kept by the bellhop - there you have the $5. The trick to this riddle is that the addition and subtraction are done at the wrong times to misdirect your thinking - and quite successfully for most. Each of the 3 friends did indeed pay $9, not $10, and as far as the friends are concerned, they paid $27 for the night. But we know that the clerk will tell us that they were charged only $25 and when you add the $3 returned with the $2 kept by the bellhop, you come up with $30.

It's a math trick. The 2 pounds that the man kept should be subtracted to make 25 instead of added to make 29.

okay

they each paid £30 ----------------> £30
owner gave back £5 ---------------> £25
owner took £2 -----------------------> £27
and gave back £3 ------------------> £30

there is no missing £

if you split up the 25 between the three then really they paid 6.3 repeating dollars

so really they couldn't have splitted it if it was that way

6.3 repeating ~~ (about) 25 plus the 3 dollars that they got back equels 28 plus the 2 the hotel manager kept

The Solution: There is no missing dollar.The addition is worded to confuse you. Once the friends had the $3 back form the owner, the totla ammount they spent was $27 not $30. So, the rest of the problem should only use the number $27. The $2 kept by the owner brings the total down to $25, which was the cost of the room.
