A woman came home from the gym early Sunday morning to find her husband dead on the floor. She immediately called the police. The police questioned the wife and staff and got their alibis:

The Wife said she was at the gym.
The Cook was preparing breakfast.
The Gardener was in the vegetable garden picking vegetables for the brunch he was about to make
The Maid was out getting the mail.
The Butler was cleaning the bathroom

The police arrested the murderer immediately. Who did it and how did they know?

Because the butler is the head servant in the household usually in charge of food service and he cannot be cleaning the bathroom.So he is the murderer.

....or perhaps the gardener because he cannot cook the food for brunch!

The butler was actually in the gym with the wife, fooling around. The Cook was in the garden with the Gardener and the Maid, fooling around. That leaves the Chauffer, who was supposed to be out getting the limo serviced. But he had suspicions that the owner, his boss, had been fooling around with his wife, who is the Maid, so he killed him. The Chauffer apparently did not know that the Cook and Gardener were also at times fooling around with his wife, and that the butler had also been fooling around with his wife at one time, but decided to fool around with the owner's wife, instead, because she was rich. In fact, everyone that worked there had sometime or other fooled around with the Chauffer's wife, with the exception of the owner, who was not interested in women at all, he only married for the money, as his wife was the real holder of the money. So the poor unfortunate owner was killed needlessly for something he didn't do. But the police knew right away that it was the Chauffer, because of the tire tracks on the owner's body, and the drag marks of his shoes as he was dragged into the house, and the tire wrench that was still stuck in his forehead, along with one of the Limo's hubcaps stuck under one arm.
