Three men went into a hotel and told the clerk that they wanted one room. The clerk told them it would be 30 dollars, so they each payed 10 dollars. As soon as they went up to their room, the clerk realized that it really only cost 25 dollars so he gave 5 bucks to the bell boy. The bell boy thought, "I have 5 bucks and I have to give it out to 3 men. How am I gonna do this?". So he pocketed 2 dollars and then gave each man 1 buck. So if 3(for 3 men) times 9 (because they really only payed 9 dollars) is 27 and the bell boy kept 2 dollars then 27+2=29, where is the other dollar??

Can someone please explain the answer to me?

The question is flawed. You should come up with 25 as the price was lowered. each person paid 9 dollars (27 total) and the bell kept 2 dollars. So the Hotel received 25 Dollars.

You're doing it wrong. Take the oringal $30 that was paid. Minus the $3 ($1 given bach to each man) =$27, minus the $2 (the bell boy kept) = $25.
