What is actually wrong with my car stereo?

Ok so here we go:
I have a AIWA CDC-R504MP Car Stereo from second hand. I already removed the cd unit because it was broken(I think it should work without it), All fuses are ok (There's just one inline fuse since i'm connecting the radio to a 12V transformer in my home) I checked the power on the circuit with my multimeter, and it flows through the circuit, so that means it has the power. The thing is I can't get it to power up (The face part with display and buttons doesnt power). What do you guys think? Is it circuit problem? Or the facial part? I really hope someone can help me!
Thanks for answering mate. Well, actually i have a 12V power supply (+ and -) and they're manually connected to two pins, positive and ofcourse ground. The casing in the back is warm-hot + the main chip. so all ineed is display...Or did i fry everything lol?

if its a car stereo, it will have an ignition control supply wire - you need to make sure the correct voltage is applied to this wire before the unit will power up (that's why your stereo powers on when u turn the key)
