Remote Amp switch for factory stereo deck?

The factory deck is from a 2005 chrysler. i want to use my factory deck with my after market amp and subs. i already have the hi to low pass converter for speaker wires and rca outputs for amp. but where can i hook the remote wire. I dont want it to be hooked up to the 12v acc/ign wire because i dont always have my radio on, and i dont want the amp on when the radio isnt. can i connect the remote wire to the dimmer wires. does that provide the 12v needed? how else can i connect my remote wire?

No dont, youll only have the amp turned on when you turn on your parking lights. Get a multimeter and set it to volts dc, take your radio from the dash where you can check the wires before unplugging the radio, ground the black probe of the multimeter and search for a 12v from the harness of the radio that disappears when you turn the radio off by using the red probe, bear in mind that you only need at least 300mA current to power up by remote most amp.

i would try to hook it up to a constant power wire from ur deck so that ur amp isn't alway on when ur cars off. if u ran the remote wire to ur battery ur amp would always be on. what i would do would be to go to ace hardware or something and get a switch and put it on ur remote wire to the battery so u could control the remote wire going to ur amp. doing that would be pretty ghetto or u could get a better deck
