...answer to this question!!? The question is- What is the limit for wattage (RMS) that a car can handle WITHOUT needing another battery, alternator, cap. , etc.??
All I have is a cd player head unit, a 1000 watt RMS subwoofer(well actually 750 but it can handle close to 1000 and my amp puts out about 1000 RMS as well), a box for the sub, etc. I have everything, but I dont have any special batteries or alternators installed. Just what came with my car which is an Oldmobile 1993 Cutlass. How are the stock alternators on these cars? Can they handle a system with these specs? Like I said I only have 1 sub but it's a power hungry monster(it's a Diamond d6) and I have not had it hooked up yet, so I'm worried my car wont be able to handle it. If it DOES happen to be too powerful for my car, would adjusting the gain be a soultution to the problem? (meaning I wont have to buy another alternator, etc...because I cant afford that at this time) Well let me know what you experts think. I really appreciate it.
