Thread: why does my 4 year old have blood shot eyes?

We'v all had a nasty head cold/mild flu thing and now she has it. She was sick a few times and had a fever over the past two days but is a lot better today. she has just been left with a nasty cough and really bloodshot eyes. the bloodshot eyes started yesterday and were sore. she isnt complaining of pain in them today. any ideas why and how long before they lose their redness? thanx

Actually, the bloodshot eyes are most likely broken blood vessels from coughing. You should see a vast improvement in the each day that she isn't coughing. If you notice no change after a few days (3-4) after she stops coughing, or any other symptoms occur, I'd make an appointment to see a doctor.
