Where would i find my medical records?

I'm trying to track down my medical records from a deceased pediatrician. I have no idea where they might be, but i feel like they should be retained somewhere. I'm allergic to all antibiotics that i'm aware. From the time i was born until i was 18 this doctor tried me on many antibiotics and i was allergic to all of them. I need to figure out which ones he tested me on so i know which ones i should definately avoid.

He's been dead for maybe 5-6 years now. I never thought to worry about the records at the time, but now that i've had to be operated on several times without antibiotics it's kind of gotten me concerned.

Is there some place the records have to go to once a doctor retires or dies? I live in CA if that helps.

The records should be kept on file at your doctor's office/clinic. If you go to that building and tell them the name of your new doctor, they will transfer all the files and info for you.
