Once food reaches your intestines you don't throw up. The reason you throw up (most of the time) is that for some reason your stomach is having problems digesting what you ate, and your esophageal sphincter ends up opening and the food coming out the opposite way it went in. There really isn't a time limit to ot, but usually once food sits on your stomach for so long without digestion process it will just come up.
