Yesterday, the vet told me my beloved Rhodesian Ridgeback mix has a mass/tumor in her anal area. She said she discovered it when expressing her anal glands (out of my sight during the visit) and said it is significant in size (like the size of a tennis ball.) She says it's "Apocrine gland anal sac adeocarcinoma" and wants to operate and test the mass for cancer. I am not sure if I should seek a 2nd opinion for several reasons: I don't have ,000+ to have the procedure done and I'm not sure I even believe the doc. She doesn't look or act any differently and will this even prolong her life? (She's almost 8) I pray a vet reads this (or someone who has been here) because I am so troubled by this. I love my dog so much -- we all do (my kids) Please help. Thank you.
