...extracted? I am going to my dentist on Thursday for my annual cleaning.

I noticed on one of my teeth (a molar) that there seems to be a bit of a pit midway between the top of the tooth and the gumline. The pit is on the groove line.

I never noticed it until I looked in the mirror. No sensitivity to cold/heat/sweet, the tooth is as hard as the rest of my teeth, and I chew Trident with that special sugar in it (begins with an X). I brush and use rinse, and have started flossing since last year. I wouldn't have noticed it until I looked at my teeth! I had my dentist appointment last year and she didn't spot any abnormalities.

I hear from people that at this stage of a cavity (assuming that I even have one), it will be extracted or a root canal will be done. Will this happen to me?
