Thread: Scared of doctors....physical exam...help!?

My psychiatrist wants me to see a family doctor for a physical because she says they can perform everything even the gyno stuff. I have an appt in a week or so and I'm scared. Do most family doctors include the gyno stuff in the exam? I'm really shy about my body and I don't feel comfortable about being touched. Will they ask you embarassing questions? I'm really not feeling comfortable, I'm going alone because its even more awkward with someone. Any advice?

Indeed they can do it all. Most will include the gyno stuff unless they know you have a seperate gyn that will do it. Its not as bad as you think, but its so scary the first time. You are totally normal to be scared.
