When I was 7, I was diagnosed with Purpura, in 1963. I was told it was because of a tick bite that I had gotten not long before that.

I had tiny red spots all over my legs, and was unable to walk due to severe pain. The night I was taken to the emergency room, my father's friend, who had driven with us, reached in to carry me to the hospital before my father could stop him and the pain of him touching my legs was so severe that I lost conciousness.

I've looked up many things about purpura, and the symptom of severe pain was not listed, nor was it listed that it could be contracted through a tick bite.

Does anyone know if I was possibly misdiagnosed, or, if so, what I had really had?

I was treated by Dr. Diamond at St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island, Illinois, and was kept in the highly contagious ward. I was treated with medication as well as cortizone for pain. I was in the hospital a total of 96 days in quarantine and received 192 shots.

Thank you in advance.
