    Overweight and Poor Nutrition Link?

Doctors and sociologists have learned that more poor people are becoming overweight. I do not understand this because it seems that if you are poor, you cannot afford take out food every day and would buy healthier choices such as rice and beans. What is your understanding of this link??

Metabolic syndrome. Poorer people are eating more Western style diets, more saturated fat, more refined sugar. This is leading to a worldwide epidemic of diabetes.

well the "poor" family I know only buys junk food items because they are the cheapest and it's much easier to have and or make then healthy meals and it tastes "better".
Sadly that family is all overweight.
Their 10 year old son is 230pounds and their 12 year old daughter is 140 pounds
And the 17 year old daughter is 250 pounds

and they all are very short....
