No longer than 8 hours it increases the risk of TSS.When you take the tampon out if it feels kind of rough and a bit harder to pull out leave it in for a little longer
i wear them to and i used to do that but it is ok to have them in for an hour if it is a heavy flow and 2 hours if it is a moderate flow
you should use a tampon that is comparable to what you are bleeding and use the least absorbency. if you have a light period and using a super absorbency tampon and wait 15 minutes to pull it out, it will be dry and painful. tampons expand enough to absorb the fluids without leaking out too much and it shouldn't grow too much to be too big to pull out.
They will hurt less if you let them absorb blood. It hurt during removal because it didn't have enough time to soak up the blood. They don't become much bigger.
Tampons can be worn for 6-8 hours. (Leaving them in longer than 8 hours can increase your chances of getting TSS)
