How long must a tampon be left in to develop toxic shock syndrome?

i leave mine in longer overnight, like 9 hours but the box recommends only 6-8. about me: i do not have a heavy flow, very light, i use regular absorbency tampons. is it likely that leaving it in for more than 8 hours i will develop tss?

Your flow has little to do with it. It has to do with the buildup of bacteria. You should NEVER EVER leave a tampon in overnight.

It is unlikely to develop tss anymore because of advances, however it is not wise to leave a tampon in overnight, so I would recommend not doing it again. You'll probably be fine for now.
