I am a laboratory phlebotomist and I drew my own blood tonight at work for testing. My doctor ordered antibodies (IGG, IGM, and IGA) to be drawn to see if my body is making them. After drawing the blood, I found out that I needed to be fasting, so instead, I had a fellow co-worker and lab tech run an extended chemistry profile. I had just eaten chinese food for dinner about 20 minutes before I drew the blood. My glucose was 83. I am wondering if the food would have already begun digesting by this point, or if 83 is closer to a fasting number. Last year, when I had bloodwork done, my fasting glucose was 77.
