My partner is training to be a Clinical Psychologist and finding the work with patients extremely hard. They have low self-esteem and worry that they are unable to help the patients or do the 'right' thing. Recently during supervision when discussing a particular patient, they cried, and they don't know why. I don't know how to help as all my 'positive' comments (that it will take time for to be a good psychologist, that it's a difficult job), don't seem to help and they just recede into themself rather than trying to talk about it. They've suffered from depression in the past and I'm beginning to worry that they may get depressed again. I don't want to be to be pressuring or over-bearing, but I'm very worried. Any advice?
