Thread: help its urgent!!!!!!! anyone just please help me?

i have a friend who has alot of stree that he started grinding his teeth and now he has jaw pain and he cant afford a dentist and they also told him that he cant use a mouth guard cause i guess he cant use a mouth guard when you have jaw pain so i was just wondering if there is anything he can do!!!!!!! he is down to the last stage which means its really bad please please please help me or him

Who told him he can't use a mouth guard? It's called TMJ (temporal mandibular joint) pain and it's caused by a condition called bruxism - grinding of the teeth. I had TMJ so bad I couldn't open my mouth wider than a fraction of an inch. My dentist took a mold of my teeth and made me a mouth guard to wear at night. It fit perfectly over my teeth and within a few weeks, my jaw pain went away and I'm perfectly normal now. In fact, I learned not to clench my teeth at night and I haven't worn a night guard in about eight years.
