AFter the membranes rupture it is only a matter of time before the baby must be born. Unfortunately, If the baby was born now he not only has a low chance of survival, but a high chance of serious and lasting disability ranging from plroblems with eyesight to very serious cerebral palsy. I have heard of someone whos membranes ruptured prematurely and she was able to remain pregnant for a few weeks, but I'm sure each situation is different. Just know that every day that baby stays in is another blessing and follow the doctors instructions very carefully.
