    Cocaine usage problems?

Say I recognized someone continued using cocaine on frequent base since November 2007.
How would he discontinue the usage of cocaine?
What would be his withdrawal effects if he stopped today?

What are the side effects of him stopping the usage of cocaine on a short & long term effect?

It has to be under a guided and assessed programme.
I too know someone who has been on it for a few years and nothing any of us has said to this person has made any difference. They are erratic, have mood swings, anger issues, do not think coherently, are forgetful of what they have said and show paranoid tendencies. Drama rules Ok where they used to be controlled and lateral thinking.
Family upset has not persuaded them to stop either.
The fact that their health has deteriorated has also not been enough to get them to stop.
They say they are in control and that it is recreational.
It isnt. It is very quickly addictive.
But until they actually admit they have the problem there is little you can do.
Then when they do - they need to be in a professionally run rehab programme - friends and family are not enough in this instance.
I even know someone with a weak heart - but even that hasnt stopped them and it is painful watching theeffect on the family.
If you know someone is doing this by all means try and help them but steer them towards the rehab programme.
The withdrawal effects that I have witnessed have been cold shaking sweats, to the point of having to shower every hour or so, irrational thought processes, heavily dilated eyes and a need to sleep but the sleep being disturbed and unrestful.
Temper outbursts when someone tries to help.
    This lasted about 36 hours.
It resembled a very very bad bout of the flu. After the 36 hours they were washed out and weak and didnt have an appetite but needed a fair bit to drink of water.
24 hours after that they were more back to normal.
The stopping of this drug in people I have known has meant that their personality traits have been heightened in the case of their temper, their patience levels and a hardening of their personality.
I do however know a couple of people that two years on seem to be fine and would appear to be back to normal and the only sign being that they tend to worry more than they ever used to.
Hope thats been of some help.

Admit to his failing and seek help immediately.
Never mind the side effects. They can be dealt with over a period of time.
Keep in mind that this habit will eventually kill him.

If that doesn't stop him - nothing will !

rehab is the way to go.
he would be mad, sad, not happy at all just think of a really depressed person whos always angry.
but its only for like 2 months.
he'll have some psychological problems probably.
he'll probably always want his drug of choice.
sorry for your friend hope he gets better.
