Can sexual assualt cause Pelvic Inflammatory Disease and other gyn. problems?

I am 34 years old. 5 years ago, I had a total hysterectomy with unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (removal of uterus, cervix, one fallopian tube, one ovary). This surgery was done due to complications from Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), fibroid tumors, and adhesions.

In 1993, I was sexually assaulted by my drill instructor while on active duty in the military. Is it at all possible that this may have caused my gyn problems? I never had any problems prior to the assault, but afterwards, my main complaint was pain during intercourse- and just pelvic pain in general.

Thank you in advance for your help.
