How can you make a 4.7 GB DVD from a camcorder that records "up to 8.5

hours of HD video footage" ? The capacity is "based on 16GB media"
I am new at this things (so be as specific as you can) and I want to buy a camcorder that records more than the regular 30 minutes on the 1.4GB disks. However I would like to end up with DVDs, not just transfer "up to 8,5 hours" to my computer and leave it on the machine itself.
