I've been out to Christmas Bay 3 times in the past couple weeks and its always very active and its exactly the kind of hole I've been looking for since moving to Houston 2 years ago, unfortunately I haven't done too well on the catching side. Just a few rat reds and small specks, but no keepers but a large, easily tag red did swim within a few feet of me in about 30 inches of water. So should I be fishing the really shallow grass? Or wading deeper and trying to work the dropoff? Maybe fishing near the crab traps? And what baits should I be trying? Live baits in the shallow grass have just been digging in and hiding and making a mess of themselves, I'm thinking topwaters or shad assassins now but I would like to get them weedless.
