    Good tracking dogs for hunting?

Would a boxer be a good tracking dog to pick up easy on scent trails? Are they intelligent?

What if the dog is deaf?

A boxer is not going to be the best tracking dog you can get. They were not meant to track at all, their muzzles are actually rather short for their size which would put them at a disadvantage.

They can be rather intelligent but every one I've known is goofy as well.

A deaf dog would be able to track just as well as one that wasn't. It's all nose, not hearing in tracking.

Why don't you look at the dogs in the "sporting" group?
These dogs were actually bred to hunt. Boxers were not.

Boxers are very intelligent, but I have never seen one hunting before. Doesn't mean that it can't, but it may be more difficult to teach a habit rather than breed for it.

What do you want it to track?
My Beagles are a good hound for tracking a rabbit, but I ain't sending them after any mountain lions.
Sure is nice that you have a couple of dozen hound breeds to choose from tho'.

No short snout breed will do good as a tracking dog.
