my husband and i are planning some hikes on local trails so we can bring our dogs. we were at REI the yesterday and saw boots and boot-liners for dogs. my question is this: how necessary are dog hiking boots? we're not planning super-tough trails right now but we've never hiked with pets. while we don't want to forget anything, we also don't want to break the bank buying dog boots if they aren't really worth it, you know.
