chances of a fish without a tail surviving?

so im a part time nanny and when i went to my client's house today the children that i nanny to were crying and screaming, it turns out that their pearlscale (about half an inch long) has its whole tail eaten off! like no tail at all!!!! i think the culprit might be the comet goldfish. so it is still alive, i took it out and put it in a seperate tank. it is floating and trying to swim, what are the chances that its tail will grow back and it will survive? the kids are devestated!!!!

you should go to the store and get Melafix which is this natural tee medicine they should have it at any fish carrying store even walmart. In my experience it fixes and helps regrow fish fins but i dont know if it will help the whole tale grow back.

if u realy want the fish, try buying melafix and keep his tank very clean, (0 nitrites 0 ammonia), so he doesnt get a severe infection..., ifu see that he is not swimming and laying in the bottom of the tank or floating, then his chances of living again are 5%, but if he manages to survive the following weeks with the special treatment i gave you, then he should be fine in 4 weeks from now. btw comet goldfish are pond fish, and dey are very messy fish and pollute the pearlscale's tank very quick. they should have at least a 20 gallon tank just for them

if theyre living in a bowl or small container then both of ur fishes will be dead in a few weeks.

EDIT*: i forgot to mention aquarum salt helps healing fishe's wounds and stuff, try getting this from the local fish store as soon as possible
