I don't want a long answer, but a simple one.

Okay, well I love gossip girl! I read all the books, and haven't missed an episode of the tv series! It is about 6 friends who like in NYC.
Serena- blonde, and beautiful she was going out with dan. She has a colorful past and used to party all the time but now has changed to a more responsible person. Her partying used to get her in trouble. Her and Dan are broken up for now though.
Dan- At the start of the season they called him lonely boy. Unlike the other rich kids in their friendship Dan is not that rich and more middle class and lives in Brooklyn. He is cute but kinda judgemental and him and Chuck don't get along too good.
Chuck- A player who parties to much. His father is married to Serena's mom so him and serena are step brother and sister. He is cute and loves blair waldorf but still is a player.
Blair Waldorf- A classy, smart girl who used to go out with nate for basically her whole life. They were the perfect couple but Nate liked serena and they slept together and blair found out. At the start of the season blair and serena fought a lot but now they are good friends.
Nate- A beautiful hottie who used to have a thing for serena and blair. Now him and blair are broken up and him and chuck were fighting because chuck and blair also slept together. Now it is summer and he is hanging out with serena alot.
Jenny- Jenny is younger than everyone else. She is a freshman and oh so cute. Chuck tried to makeout with her in the first episode and Dan who is Jenny's older brother found them and basically gave Chuck a huge black eye. Her and Blair had a huge feud and now Jenny realizes she needs to stop being someone she isn't and just be herself.
There is also Eric who is Serenas younger brother who attempted sucide and vanessa dans ex gf.
So now that you know the people in the show here is the concept. It is about the life of the beautiful rich kids in NYC but has a deeper meaning. It is very interesting and teaches you about friendship and is just plain good. It is filled with drama, flirting, and fashion! You should watch it!

Serena (best friends with Blair, ALSO on and off with Nate)
Nate (stoner, but the best looking guy out there, EVERY girl wants him)
Chuck (very perverted, just wants action)
Jenny (goes to Blair's school)
Dan (Jenny's brother)

then there are outside characters such as Vanessa, who is Dans best friend and former girlfriend. etc.
This series is all about these friends, and the things they go through
honestly, the book series is my favourite series, and i LOVE the show !
you should definitely try watching it sometime !
