I am consider myself lucky to live in a county that classifies wolf and coyote dog mixes as domestics dogs, our shelter takes in a large number of them every year and i adopted my wolf hybrid from them last year. the coyote mixes are usually unintentionally bred due to a huge population of coyotes in the area.
anyway i hear so many awful lies about these dogs all the time from people claiming to have owned one i hear "they all kill cats" and "they can't live inside" or "they can't be trained" or my personal favorite that a man told me yesterday " they're great dogs but if they get the taste of blood they go on a rampage and you have to put them down, that what happen to my last one" stupid rumors like this from people claiming to have experience with them prevent potential owners from going into further investigation of the breed and thus more and more are put down every week. i'm looking for ideas on how to get the true story out there, i'm not looking to sugar coat it but i think that experienced dog owners are more likely to give one a home when armed with facts rather that stupid lies. so any ideas on how to educate the community of these animals?
also a little education for the community may help to prevent some of the negativity us hybrid owners recieve
xyz- don't answer if you don't know what you're talking about
see people like isabella are who need educated
i realize it isn't for everyone but i think that people can become educated on how to hadle one properly, i knew nothing about them when i got mine but i put months and months worth of work into educating myself for him. i guess i'm just upset today because the shelter is about to euthanize the sweetest coydog i've ever met and there is nothing i can do
