Is the Motorola DEFY with MOTOBLUR a good phone? Is it hard to text on?

I'm going to upgrade my crappy Samsung Galaxy T to a Motorola DEFY. I've heard mixed opinions about this phone.
What I really want to know is: battery life. How long does it last on one charge?

And, coming from someone whose only touch-texting expierence is her iPod touch, is texting hard on this phone? It has Swype...how's that? But i've had QWERTY keyboards forever now. Is the transition going to be hard? Thanks.

I'm typing this whole response from my Defy. Battery is quite impressive, swype is just an option, fun, though frustrating at times like when it makes up words, but you can still choose to have your beloved qwerty keyboard. Phone is just great overall, very durable and I dont think you'll be dissapointed. Hope this helps :]
