t-mobile phone.. how do i know if he is still using it?

i have afeeling my ex might have passed away..
is there any way i can find out if hes still using his cell phone
i call and no one answers im so scared bcuz his phone is off too
is there a way of knowing if he is still using it .. ? help me please im so scared...
