Cell phone charger not working?!?

I had it plugged in, but it was not working, and now my phone has died.
I need this phone for important calls, and I also use it for alarms in the morning.
I have a LG VX5300, and I believe that where you plug the phone in the prongs (or whatever) that you put the charger into are messed up.
Help, please?
