how do i connect my ps2 online with no connection disk and ethernet cord?URGENT?

i have ps2 slim and want to connect it online to play online games i have the ethernet cable but my router is far away and unable to plug it in there, can i just plug it into my desktop comp. which has a usb plug in that picks up the router for internet, if i plug it in the back of my desk top and start the game up and go to online and set it up, WILL THIS WORK?
