Does anyone know of any clean-looking calendars(hopefully with a transparent background) and a schedule/to-do list?
or anything like that? talking about windows desktop gadgets, widgets, or whatever they're called.

yup, i use rainlender, it has everything that you asked for, even transparent n.n
googling it shud bring it up nicely, and it's good, shows calender, events list, and todo list. doesn't add onto windows sidebar tho if that's what ur looking for, it's a seperate application
