Final Fantasy XIII,
^if he likes fantasy games.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
^highly recommended if he dosent have it

Assassin's Creed II
^really good game

Runescape membership card or something
^if he plays runescape.

( runescape is better than what other people play XD )

Get him any cool looking ps3 game that he doesn't already have. Cool looking AKA: violence, blood, sex, ect. Gadgets are cool but not always what you want or what you could practically use. See if he has gods of war. DO NOT - get him a sports game if he has never expressed interest in that sport or already has a similar one. AND lean heavily towards fantasy games if he is a nerd or watches anime or has other fantasy like games.
Just lean heavily towards the game styles he already has.

Get him the PS3 Move, haha. Or a subscription to PSN+.
