Okay, so here's my situation:
I am moving to Europe in the fall and want a handheld GPS that I can carry around with me. I'm planning on backpacking a lot of the time I'm in Europe, so the GPS will help me find my way around roads and find places I'm looking for.
My only experience with GPS is that with my iPhone. I love the GPS program on it - I like how I can type in 'gas station, Hartford, CT', and it shows me all the gas stations in/around Hartford, or I can type in the name of a small business or a small road, and it will always find it.
Would like a TomTom or Magellan car GPS have the same capabilities? I feel like the iPhone GPS always turns up great results because it's connected to googlemaps, while Magellan, Tom Tom, etc. seem more geared towards actually driving/navigating through roads.
If I could take my iPhone with me, that would be the best option, but I can't. So would my next best bet be grabbing a Magellan/TomTom/etc? Are there small handheld GPS that serve the same purpose as what I'm looking for?
