ok well first why are you asking a question on computers and RAM and then telling the people that answer your question that they are wrong vista 32bit can only and use 3.2GB-3.5GB of RAM on the 32BIT vista the 64bit can use 8GB - a MAX of 128 and i think that it can even go i bit higher the SP1 only fixes and adds patches to VISTA just because it says you have 6GB of RAM dose not mean it is using is all up

Amount of ram not showing correctly in Sidebar gadget?

Ok. I had 2gb of ram and today i brought a Kingstone 4gb Kit installed it.
When i right click on Computer in the start menu it shows 6GB, so windows is recognising it but my Multimeter on my sidebar still says i have 2GB....

Why is it so??? And how do i fix it?

Im running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with all the updates so windows recognises more than 4GB....
In relation to the first answer, yes you are correct but SP1 fixed that problem... with SP1 you can use up to 16GB Ram.... the full 6GB is showing in the System properties page but not on the gadget...
To the second answer, do you mean go into the BIOS and make it detect the new memory? I thought it should auto detect???

it can be software related problem. However if you have windows 32-bit version - yes it can detect and show more than 3GB however it will not have easy way to access rest part of your memory. Read something more about it on internet.
