Healthy Eating Help ?

Ok well I have been trying to lose weight for a while now and have finally realised all these fad diets and various tricks don't work so I'm going back to basics and trying to eat healthily.

I'm 14 and want to cook for myself because I'm quite picky, not crazy about my mums cooking, and don't just want to eat ready made crap all the time. My mum is taking me shopping soon to get some healthy stuff but I don't know what to get as my diet right now just basically consists of pasta, bread and frozen stuff.
Anyone have some ideas on what basic foods I should get for healthy eating? I'm open to try pretty much anything new apart from fish or any red meats??

veggies of all types and lean proteins. If you eat bread or pasta, eat it in small quantities and go for high fiber whole grain varieties.

Examples would be fresh or frozen broccoli, green beans, peas, spinach. Fresh red bell peppers, onions, yellow squash or zucchini, tomatoes, baby carrots.

For lean proteins: chicken breast, ground turkey, lean turkey sausage.

pasta and bread all the time is not good for you. both of those are full of carbs.
u need fresh vegetables and fruit. water is also extremely good.
