...comics in PDF format? I noticed people have already created similar widgets for comics like The Farside, Garfield and Dilbert. Can this be done with Marvel or DC without being sued? We are just trying to make some extra pocket money.
It's 100% illegal. It would still be illegal even if you didn't make a profit. There are strict copyrights, which is why you will not find Marvel and DC comics available to read online without paying for them.
