How can I connect a 12-24v dc solenoid to a Z8F6421 microcontroller?

Here is the board I am using, http://alphazeroelectronics.com/slimboard/index.htm

I dont know how to connect a 12-24v dc solenoid to the output pins of the microcontroller. The output pins can only produce 3.3-5v so they say I need a relay or a transistor. What type of relay or transistor would I use?

Please help me. Thanks!
