The car is not inherently dangerous. First question: is it the four cylinder model or the six? The answer to that may control just how expensive insuring a new, male driver is. Second question: how much of a project is it? I'm thinking you want a car that you can reliably drive around. Unless this has been VERY carefully taken care of, or lovingly restored already, that might not be the case.
It's an OLD car. Parts can be hard to find, and very expensive. Lots of these were allowed to "rust out;" if you really come down to buying it, have a Porsche mechanic check it out thoroughly. Search out the vehicle's history and don't buy unless there is a good trail of paper for it's maintenance.
This Porsche - VW can be a lot of fun, if it's in good shape and you take care of it. Otherwise, it can be one big money pit that is always in the shop, and that you wish you had never bought.
I have a Porsche. My daily driver is a Subaru. You might want to consider a nice, newer Subie. They are great cars!
