Why did they change the voice of the Volkswagen bug in the commercials?

okay, i'm guessing none of you really know...but they changed it in the new commercials and then went back and changed it in the other commercials! i can kinda guess a couple things that might have happened, but they changed it to a less german sounding man....merrr...now i'm kinda leaning towards getting a mini cooper....
