VW Polo...problem with Radio,clock and trip meter?

My VW Polo June 2008 is giving me problem with the Radio, the clock and trip mileage meter.
At first the Radio went into safe mode,so got it checked by VW garage.Guess what they said there is no problem so I started the car and found that the clock and trip meter display go off after I switch off the engine and back to ZERO and the Radio is still playing.
Then they said oh well you wil l have to bring it back to check it for a whole day.
What surprises me is that the VW garage has all the modern tools
and even then they couldnot find the fault on the first day

So what's the question?
Intermittent faults can be a nightmare: If it works when they have it in, what do you expect them to do? Doubtless they'll give it a thorough check when they have a bit more time with it, but it's under warranty, so don't panic: it's not as if it's going to cost you anything.
