Citroen C3 - Central locking gone, car won't start?

I've had my Citroen C3 for about 3 months, 05 plate. Ever since I bought the car the central locking hasn't worked too well - I have to manually open the driver's door with the key before the central locking will allow the other doors to open. A pain in the arse but I've lived with it.

At the weekend I found I was unable to lock the car via the keyfob when I returned home from a journey. As the car only has a manual lock on the driver's door this meant I was unable to secure the car. I returned an hour later and fortunately the central locking decided to work.

This morning the central locking has gone completely, unable to open the other doors once the drier door is opened manually and also unable to lock the doors. Returned later in the day, still unable to lock. The car is also now refusing to start.

To any decent mechanics out there I'm wondering (a) would the two issues, central locking & not starting, be connected and (b) what on earth could I do to resolve it?

    Many thanks!

Is the battery in the keyfob needing replaced?
Other than that, there's not much you can do yourself, some people will recommend disconnecting the car's battery for a while and seeing if that helps but in practice it rarely does.
Probably going to be a job for either a Citroen dealer or specialist, or a good auto electrician, since the problem seems to be with the alarm/immobiliser which is linked to the central locking.

It's unlikely there's anything you can do yourself, typical modern French car electronics I'm afraid.

Replace the battery in the key fob then it has to be re associated with the car.thus -
    Switch ignition on
Press and hold lock button on key/fob for 10 seconds
    Switch ignition off
    Wait 3 seconds
    Complete

    Try key buttons for operation

If the above does not work for the central locking and/or the immobiliser then the vehicles security code number and being hooked up to diagnostic equipment and possibly a new key is all that will fix it.
